Welcome to Nuxas

A warm, beginner-friendly introduction to Nuxas, the production-grade Nuxt 4 SaaS template. Learn what it is, who it is for, and what you will find in this documentation.

Welcome to Nuxas — The Nuxt 4 SaaS Template

Thank you for visiting Nuxas. We are glad you are here. Whether you are a seasoned developer who has been building with Vue and Nuxt for years, or someone who is opening a terminal for the very first time, this documentation is written for you.

Nuxas is a production-grade SaaS template built on Nuxt 4. It is not just a collection of pretty pages. It is a complete, carefully engineered foundation that includes everything a modern SaaS product needs: authentication, billing, a dashboard, dark mode, accessibility, SEO, and a content system that you can edit without touching code.

But before we go any further, let us explain what that actually means in plain language.

What Is Nuxt, and Why Does It Matter?

Nuxt is a framework built on top of Vue.js. Vue is a JavaScript framework for building user interfaces. If you have ever interacted with a modern website where clicking a button updates the page without a full reload, chances are it was built with Vue, React, or a similar framework.

Nuxt takes Vue and makes it more powerful by adding:

  • File-based routing — every file you create in the pages/ folder automatically becomes a page on your website.
  • Server-side rendering (SSR) — pages are rendered on the server first, so they load faster and rank better on Google.
  • The Nitro engine — a server engine that compiles your project into a single portable server that runs anywhere: Vercel, Cloudflare Workers, Netlify, or even your own VPS.

In short: Nuxt gives you the speed of a static website with the flexibility of a full-stack application.

What Makes Nuxas Different?

There are hundreds of Nuxt templates on the market. Most of them share the same problems: they are bloated with unnecessary dependencies, they force you into someone else's abstraction, and they treat SEO and accessibility as afterthoughts.

Nuxas was built as a direct answer to those problems. Here is what you get:

  • A clean, idiomatic codebase. Every composable, every component, every server route is written the way the Nuxt team intended. If you know Nuxt, you can read Nuxas in an afternoon.
  • Strict TypeScript. From the database schema to the Vue templates, every piece of data is typed. No any creeping in. No surprises at runtime.
  • Full ownership. You buy once, you own the code forever. No monthly fees, no lock-in, no rented platform.
  • SEO as a first-class concern. Automated sitemaps, per-page meta tags, structured data, OpenGraph images, canonical URLs — all built in from day one.
  • Accessibility from the ground up. Every component is keyboard-navigable, screen-reader friendly, and tested against WCAG AA contrast standards.
  • A content system you can edit without code. With the Decap CMS edition, you can update your blog, products, and site content from a browser-based dashboard. No Git commands, no Markdown syntax to memorize.

Who Is Nuxas For?

Nuxas is designed for three types of people:

  1. Solo founders and indie hackers who want to launch a SaaS product in days, not months. You have an idea and you want to ship it. Nuxas gives you the infrastructure so you can focus on the product itself.
  2. Freelancers and agencies who build websites for clients. Nuxas gives you a clean foundation that you can hand off with confidence, knowing that the code is maintainable and the client can update their own content.
  3. Developers learning Nuxt who want to see a real-world, production-grade project. Reading Nuxas is one of the fastest ways to understand how a modern Nuxt application is structured.

What Is in This Documentation?

This documentation is organized as a linear journey. If you are new to Nuxas, we recommend reading it from start to finish. Each chapter builds on the previous one.

Here is what we will cover:

  1. Welcome — you are reading it now.
  2. How to Purchase — the two editions available and where to buy them.
  3. After Purchase — what to do first, including installing the tools you need.
  4. Local Installation — how to run the project on your own computer.
  5. Initial Configuration — setting your project URL and environment variables.
  6. Project Structure — a brief tour of the folders and files.
  7. Running with Decap CMS — two terminals, one for the site, one for the CMS.

  17. Netlify Deployment — the recommended host for Decap CMS users.
  18. Other Hosts — Cloudflare, Vercel, AWS, cPanel, and VPS.

  20. Support — how to reach us if you need help.

A Note on Decap CMS

Nuxas comes in two editions: Code Only and Code + Decap CMS. If you chose the Code Only edition, you will edit content directly in Markdown and YAML files using a code editor. If you chose the Decap CMS edition, you will have access to a browser-based dashboard where you can edit content without touching code.

This documentation covers both editions. Wherever Decap CMS is involved, we will clearly mark it with a Decap CMS badge, so you know which steps apply to your edition.

We will not teach you how to use Decap CMS in depth — the tool has its own excellent documentation. We will only explain when to use the local version (while developing on your computer) and when to use the cloud version (after deploying to a host). That is all you need to know to get started.

A Final Word

Building a SaaS is hard. Not because the code is difficult, but because there are a thousand small decisions to make before you can ship. Nuxas exists to remove as many of those decisions as possible. We have already made the architectural choices, written the boilerplate, and tested the edge cases. What is left is your product.

We hope this documentation helps you get from purchase to production with confidence. If you get stuck, the last chapter explains how to reach us.
